As Kaibigan Foundation’s network of beneficiaries increase with the flow of time, more and more man power is being needed to augment with the needs of efficient work. Addressing the needs of some 500 plus people it is a hard task for the community leaders who are on the forefront of dealing with almost everything that happens with the people’s organization.
So, Kaibigan Foundation together with the current leaders form each people’s organization decided to recruit new members adding up their ranks better serving the community. These leaders were selected from their respective members who have been seen active participation and firm commitment when it comes to the development of the community.
These leaders were selected through recommendations of old community leaders and undergone screening from community mobilizers and Ms. Ailyn Jullar-Aniano as community organizing program supervisor.
Of course these leaders were not deployed as is. They were given an orientation to improve their service and fully understand the task of becoming a community leader.
Said orientation was given at Kaibigan receiving area last March 23 as facilitated by Ms. Susana G. Biteng which included the history of Kaibigan Foundation, KEOFI operational themes: Poverty alleviation, Child protection and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and the tasks and responsibilities of community leaders and the importance of the role of community organizing in the holistic development of the community.
This orientation will help the new generation of community leaders understand where KEOFI and the people’s organization come from and why do we need to be together in building communities boosting their moral and appreciating the organizations efforts.
It was also the objective of the event to let the new leaders realize that KEOFI is just the facilitator of community empowerment because the people of the community themselves are the real organizers of empowerment.
