New students often experience culture shock on the first years of their new schools as they jump to the next level of education. If not properly dealt with these feeling dramatically influences and worsen a student’s performance at school.
And thus Kaibigan Foundation seeks to address this problem of students who experience lack of coping ability to their new world of senior high school. So, KEOFI launched its Basic Life Skills training for 17 incoming first year senior high school students.
This activity aims to enhance the coping ability of the incoming students to become ready and confident as they step in to their first year in senior high school.
They underwent series of workshop and input concerning on topics in self-awareness, interpersonal relationship and communication, coping with emotions and stress, conflict resolution, critical thinking and problem solving, and goal setting and decision making.
The event was concluded last April 26 to 28, 2017 at the Bricks House Resort and Events in Pansol, Laguna. The activity was facilitated by four scholars and three staff. It also became a venue for the children to build rapport and recreation with other scholars. The participants received certificates as appreciation to their active participation.
